Bakke Development and BCDC Break Ground on San Antonio Self-Storage Project in Alamo Ranch Submarket

Bakke Development and BCDC have started construction on TalleyBak Storage, a 774-unit, three-story, climate-controlled San Antonio self-storage facility in the rapidly growing Alamo Ranch/West submarket. It marks the eighth programmatic project for the partners as they continue expanding their self-storage development pipeline.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with BCDC as we deliver another best-in-class self-storage facility in one of San Antonio’s most dynamic and fast-growing areas,” said Brandt Bakke, VP of Development of Bakke Development. “The demand for climate-controlled storage continues to grow, and we are confident TalleyBak Storage will meet the needs of this expanding community.”

“Our programmatic relationship with Bakke Development has proven to be an exceptional partnership,” said Litt Glover, president and CEO of BCDC. “This eighth project together underscores our confidence in the self-storage sector and in Bakke’s ability to identify and deliver high-quality developments in prime markets.”

The 82,938 rentable square foot San Antonio self-storage facility will be branded, operated and managed by a national storage REIT. It will feature a loading dock, two service elevators and state-of-the-art CCTV and card access security systems. The three-story project will be highly visible from Wiseman Boulevard and Talley Road.

The Alamo Ranch/West submarket has experienced significant growth over the past decade driven by several corporate campuses, including Microsoft, Wells Fargo, The Capital Group, Chase and Frost Bank. Northwest Vista College, with more than 18,000 students, is also nearby. Within a 3-mile radius of the project, over 25,000 new residential rooftops are planned or under construction.

Independent Contractors, Inc. (ICI), an affiliated company of Bakke, will serve as the general contractor for TalleyBak Storage. Alamo Architects is the project’s chief architect, and MBC Engineers is the civil engineer. The JV partners anticipate an early 2026 opening.
