New apartment tower will be Frisco’s tallest building

Construction has started on a luxury apartment tower that will be the tallest building in Frisco.

Atlanta developer Novare Group bought a site from the developers of the Frisco Station project for the 25-story residential rental building along the Dallas North Tollway.

Novare Group’s SkyHouse Frisco Station is the first high-rise residential building started north of State Highway 121. Novare is building it in partnership with Batson-Cook Development.

Well-located mixed-use destination attracted national retailers

Atlanta  — Batson-Cook Development Company (BCDC) and partner Fuqua Development have sold Glenwood Place, a dynamic mixed-use project located in the historic Grant Park neighborhood.

The Kroger-anchored development completed in 2015 includes 175,000 square-feet of retail fronting Glenwood Avenue and Bill Kennedy Way with visibility from Interstate 20 with surface-level parking providing easy access for the customers. The center is home to a Starbucks Coffee, a Waffle House, The Little Clinic and Glenwood Dentistry.

Glenwood Place is one of six mixed-use developments totaling more than 1.5 million square feet of specialty retail space across metro Atlanta being developed through the long-term strategic partnership between BCDC and Fuqua Development. These include the Atlanta Braves mixed-use project in Cobb County, The Battery; Sugarloaf Market Place in Duluth ; Kennesaw Marketplace in Kennesaw; Decatur Crossing in Decatur and Madison Yards.

Tampa Luxury Condo Tower Breaks Ground

Ascentia Development Group and Batson-Cook Development Co. broke ground on Virage, a 24-story, 71-unit luxury condominium tower in Tampa. Smith & Associates Real Estate  has already signed more than $75 million worth of contracts for residences. The development was financed by City National Bank of Florida and is slated for completion by 2019.

“We are off to a remarkably fast start, especially as more people who live in single-family homes are now looking closely at the peace of mind and ease of luxury condominium living,” said Jay Tallman, principal of Ascentia Development Group, in prepared remarks.

Virage, situated at 3401 Bayshore Blvd., will feature two 6,700-square-foot penthouses with 360-degree views of Hillsborough Bay, South Tampa and downtown. The following four floors are devoted to two 4,400-square-foot apartments per floor. The rest of the residences range in size between 2,400 and 3,300 square feet. Each apartment features a private elevator entrance and 10-foot ceilings. Community amenities include:

  • infinity-edge pool overlooking Bayshore
  • wellness center
  • pet grooming facilities
  • 24-hour reception

Prices vary between $1 million and $5 million. Out of the 71 residences, 61 are priced between $1 million and $2.5 million, while the larger units and the penthouses range between $3 million and $5 million.


Cary’s Regency Woods expands as two area firms relocate

Construction is about to begin on an office building in Cary that will be home to two internationally-known companies looking for room to grow.

The six-story building overlooking Symphony Lake will be anchored by Chiesi USA, a pharmaceutical company that will move its headquarters there from across Regency Parkway, and Black & Veatch, an engineering, consulting and construction company consolidating its local offices. Both firms say they are making the move to to accommodate long-term growth.

The Spectrum Companies and Batson-Cook Development Company are developing the project, which is called Regency Woods II.

BCDC, Dunphy Sell Publix-Anchored Retail Center in Metro Tampa for $21.7M

Batson-Cook Development Co. (BCDC), in a joint venture with Dunphy Properties, has sold Rivercrest Commons, a Publix-anchored shopping center in Riverview, for $21.7 million. The 75,000-square-foot center is situated at the intersection of Symmes Road and US 301, roughly 13 miles southeast of Tampa. Colliers International represented Atlanta-based BCDC and Tampa-based Dunphy Properties in the transaction. RealNet Tampa Bay represented the buyer, Nicklaus of Florida. The property was 92 percent leased at the time of sale to tenants including Dunkin’ Donuts, Fast Track Urgent Care Center and Heartland Dental.

JV Opens Dallas Apartments

Novare Group and Batson-Cook Development Co. completed Victory Place, a 25-story community with 352 units. Located near uptown in the Victory Park neighborhood, the project is across the street from American Airlines Center.

Victory Place, a 25-story apartment community at 1701 Payne Street in Dallas, has opened. The 352-unit project is the 16th delivered by Novare Group and co-sponsor Batson-Cook Development Co., following projects in Texas, Florida, Colorado, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

The property includes studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom units that offer downtown views with floor-to-ceiling windows and 9-foot exposed concrete ceilings. The units also have private balconies and terraces.

BCDC, Paramount Break Ground on $43M Dual-Branded Hotel in Knoxville

Paramount Hospitality Management LLC and Batson-Cook Development Co. have broken ground on a $43 million dual-branded hotel at the corner of Church and State streets in Knoxville. The property will include a 144-room Courtyard by Marriott and an 88-room Residence Inn. The 166,544-square-foot hotel will feature a rooftop lounge, a bar and café in the lobby and a three-level parking deck. Paramount and Batson-Cook plan to complete the hotel in the third quarter of 2018.

BCDC, Fuqua Sell Duluth Project


Delivered in early 2016 through the joint-venture partnership between Fuqua Development Company and Batson-Cook Development Company, Sugarloaf Marketplace in Duluth has been sold following a strong opening by the project anchor, Sprouts Farmers Market.

The mixed-use project located at the intersection of Sugarloaf Parkway and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard is home to Sprouts, AT&T and Orangetheory Fitness in addition to other well-known national retailers. It features 75,000 square feet of specialty retail space and 330 luxury apartment units near the high-end community of Sugarloaf Country Club.

Batson-Cook Development Company Tops Out SkyHouse Nashville

Nashville (May 2, 2016) — Batson-Cook Construction will ceremonially top out SkyHouse Nashville on Friday, May 6, meaning the structure on the top floor of the 25-floor luxury apartment building in the heart of midtown Nashville has been completed.
